RIGHT ABOUT NOW you may be wondering “what do whales have to do with weddings?

Perhaps, if we were talking about any other location, that would be a perfectly legitimate question. But this is Los Cabos, Mexico! Whale watching is a beloved winter activity here whether you watch from your hotel terrace, your lounge chair on the beach or up close from the deck of a boat.

WHEN YOU’RE PLANNING YOUR DESTINATION WEDDING in Los Cabos, of course, you’re planning an entire week or weekend of wedding celebration! Beach days and margarita nights weave in and around welcome parties, rehearsal dinners and after-wedding brunches. But what else can you suggest or arrange for your guests to enjoy? Relax dear friends. This paradise offers countless activities and diversions. Deep sea fishing, dune buggies, horseback riding, golfing, surfing, and sunset sails, to spa days, parasailing and shopping excursions, to name but a few! Trust us, your save-the-date will be PACKED to the gills with non stop fun! But, from January to mid April, guess which activity trumps them all?

WHALE WATCHING.

WHALE WATCHING is brought to a profound new level in Baja California. Thousands of Gray and Humpback whales make the arduous 6000 mile journey from their summer homes in the icy waters between Alaska and Siberia to the warm waters of beautiful Baja to give birth. While the young whales learn about life in the safety of the still bays along our coastline, these majestic creatures are engaging and playful to those of us lucky enough to watch. For many of your wedding guests, there is nothing so thrilling as watching the whales breach out of the water or tail slapping next to the boat. It’s exhilarating!

OUR TRAVEL TIP? When to watch. Keep in mind when planning your wedding activities, whale watching in Los Cabos is best enjoyed from January through March (for the Gray whales) and January through April (for Humpback whales).
