Frida Kahlo Dia de los Muertos at Four Seasons Cabo
Frida Kahlo Inspired Dia de los Meurtos
Although the photographs aren’t the best, we had to share a few snaps from our Frida-inspired Día de los Muertos altar! Elena, our Creative Director and an avid, okay, obsessed Frida Fan, designed the Day of the Dead altar for the new Four Seasons Hotel Los Cabos at Costa Palmas. Why Frida Kahlo as the design inspiration? Well, that’s an easy question to answer! Bold use of color is a signature element to Frida’s artwork, as is the rich layering of texture, whimsy, and folklorico.
A Modern Take on Tradition
The luxury hotel commissioned ELENA DAMY to create a modern tribute for the traditional Mexican holiday. As you can see, Elena’s decorative display was loaded with saturated colors and textures, using both fragrant flowers and seasonal fruits to nail the concept. The main flower used was the Marigold, a powerhouse in color, texture, and durability. They served us well in the decorative design as we strung them in garlands and layered them in heavy applications.
A Happy Client
Needless to say, the hotel LOVED the vibrant decor and guests marveled at its holiday theme, using the altar as a selfie station throughout the holiday weekend. What that told us was that the project was a smashing success! Novel entertainment for the hotel guests was a critical aspect of the project, as was the constant use of the decor in organic promotion of the hotel through selfies shared across social media. All with the #FSLosCabos hashtag. A win-win for the newly-opened Four Seasons hotel, which means it was a win-win for #TeamElenaDamy!
We hope everyone enjoyed the festivities of the holiday and finds as much inspiration from our Dia de los Muertos decor!
