Elena Damy to Design Gala for Engage!15 at NIZUC Resort & Spa
We’re back in Los Cabos after a whirlwind couple of blissful-yet-inspiring days at the outrageously beautiful NIZUC Resort & Spa in Cancun, Mexico! An amazing hotel owned by Mexican hoteliers, was designed by a prominent Mexican architect, and will be the host of the first Engage! Luxury Business Summit held in Mexico on June 8-11, 2015. We are honored to share that ELENA DAMY, a Mexican Event Design firm, will design the event’s Gala. It’s a tremendous privilege to collaborate with Rebecca Grinnals and Kathryn Arce of Engaging Concepts, the dynamic duo behind these wonderful conferences. Honestly, the Engage! summits are MORE than a “conference” – they are nurturing experiences that inspire, enrich and educate the wedding professional and creative business owner. We speak from experience. Since we attended out first Engage! at The Grand Del Mar in San Diego in 2011, Elena and I have never been more dedicated, energized and passionate about producing destination weddings. We thank dear Rebecca and Kathryn for everything they have done, and continue to do, for us and for the rest of the wedding industry. Now, let’s talk about this INCREDIBLE resort!
Nestled in the secluded enclave of Punta Nizuc, the NIZUC Resort & Spa is located less than 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport and is one of the newest luxury destinations in the Mexican Caribbean. But let’s be clear, NIZUC is not a part of the well-known high rise, party-crazed Cancun we all have heard about for years. Rather, the resort sits beyond the commercial hotel zone in its own private, ideally situated, tropical paradise of protected mangroves and lush, local foliage. It also faces the white sands of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second largest coral reef in the world!!! — and is home to two exclusive beaches, four fabulous swimming pools, six gourmet restaurants, an elegant ESPA spa, AND is surrounded by the region’s natural wonders and Mayan archaeological sites. NIZUC offers 274 luxurious suites and private villas, all with stunning views, dispersed throughout its 29-acre property. Interior and architectural designer Alejandro Escudero worked with Mexico City’s Museo Nacional de Antropología to reproduce a 16th-century convent mural, which graces one of the six restaurants, and the Mayan hieroglyphics that appear throughout the rooms, imbuing the luxury retreat with a sense of history.
Wow, wow, WOW! right? NIZUC is the epitome of relaxed elegance but pays homage to the ancient traditions of the Mayan culture and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Truly, a place to be seen and shared to be believed.
The architecture is awe-inspiring from first sight, with seemingly endless reflecting pools, textured stone facades, sleek dark marble floors, organic stone sculptures, and modern buildings of different sizes and minimalist shapes that somehow, magically, blend together seamlessly. There is a liberal use of calming earth colors that range from clay to walnut and charcoal to slate, but it feels just right next to the azure blue of the Caribbean and the bright white sand before it. Enticing and magical, restorative and serene.
We absolutely LOVED IT and you will too. See you at Engage!15!
