From the abundantly decorated beach wedding ceremony to the romantic bride and groom portraits taken on the sand to the grand-but-intimate sit-down wedding dinner dance reception at COMAL at Chileno Bay Resort & Residences — Ava and Marton’s wedding celebration was a feast for the eyes, heart, and spirit.

Persian Jewish Wedding Traditions

When we hear how a bride and groom intend to celebrate their marriage, whether, with a traditional or alternative ceremony format, we feel it in our heartstrings. Really. Nothing is more romantic than witnessing a couple promise their love to each other! And Ava and Marton’s Persian Jewish wedding ceremony was all that powerful emotion and more! Here’s a little bit of how they tied the knot, so to speak…

Chuppah

A long-standing wedding tradition for Jewish and traditional Persian weddings is the wedding canopy (chuppah). It represents the house the couple will create with their marriage, and the promises, readings, and blessings made under the canopy help them build a robust and unified home filled with love, family, and protection.

As an important symbol of their union, designing Ava and Marton’s chuppah with luscious displays of flowers, traditional fabrics, and candles were an absolute must!

Sofreh Aghd

The sofreh aghd represents the symbolic and traditional union of the bride and groom, with its intricate spread of items that represent the shared journey of marriage the couple is about to embark on. The aghd is the ceremonial portion of the wedding in which the bride and groom sit in front of an assorted sofreh (table) full of items that have specific, thoughtful meanings behind them. Some elements you’ll find on a sofreh include a mirror that signifies eternity, two candlesticks that signify light, nuts, fruit, grain, and eggs for fertility and coins or jewels for wealth and prosperity. Also on the table is a bowl of honey, signifying sweetness for the couple.

One of our favorite aspects of Ava and Marton’s wedding ceremony? The women involved in it! Yet another emotionally-rich aspect of the Persian wedding is having female family members participate in the ceremony…

A Setting as Soft as Seashells

When you look at the color palette we used for Ava and Marton’s wedding, you see how the soft pastels of Baja played an important role in the event design. As reflected in the pale pink, blush, and ivory flowers used in the floral centerpieces, the soft white linens, and the blush taper candles. Only the fresh minty green reminiscent of the local palm trees added contrast to the colorscape when it was used in the seating signage, menus, and table numbers. Over the dance floor we created a ceiling filled with palm fronds, tropical greenery, flowers, and woven grass Spanish lanterns.

Light and lovely, just as a Cabo wedding should be! We wish Ava and Marton every happiness in the world!
