Wedding Inspiration at Acre Baja
WE’RE ENDING ANOTHER BUSY WEEK of wedding planning and event design with a hankering for sweet cocktails and sexy surroundings. We’re sharing just that combination with this wedding design inspiration shoot we recently did at Acre Baja.
NATURALLY, THE NEW HAUTE SPOT. Acre, pronounced AH-kray, is a 25 acre farm located near San Jose del Cabo. The restaurant, cocktail bar, and event space are surrounded by farmland, but there is nothing rustic about it. Rather, Acre is a contemporary eatery designed with a prominent open kitchen, warm lighting, comfortable furniture, and an overall modern Baja style. But it’s taken to a whole other level of sophistication with its use of natural elements, such as the walls made from compressed earth and patio coverings made from local palo de arco trees. All of the furniture, dishware, lighting and decorative accessories come from Baja California or the Mexican mainland. Trust us when we say, Acre is a place you want to visit often because it just feels GOOD. It feels authentically modern Mexican, whether it’s an intimate dinner for two or a rehearsal dinner for 50 of your dearest friends.
NOW, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD. Our entire team, Carlos and Elena Damy, had the pleasure of tasting what’s on the menu at Acre. What we recognized immediately, and consequently loved, was the obvious freshness of the produce. The farm grows most of what is served on the menu or sources seasonal products from other local farmers as needed. But the presentation of the food was as fresh and vibrant as the quality of the produce and the service was excellent as well. But it’s important to note that both of the imaginative chefs behind the menu, Kevin Luzande and Oscar Torres, are designing menus each and every day based on what is freshest, from the fruits and veggies to the cheese, fish and meats. Which means every visit to Acre Baja is new and different, something every foodie cherishes in their favorite local restaurant.
NOT TO BE OUTSHONE BY THE FOOD, the restaurant’s resident mixologist, Danielle Tatarin, knows how to fashion a delicious cocktail. Our wedding planners took Danielle’s masterclass on cocktail design, mixology methods and even a history lesson on where our favorite beverages began. Again, the ingredients used are of the finest quality and the juices, infusions and syrups are all made with homegrown or locally sourced produce and herbs. And, of course, the level of the tequila and mezcal used is incomparable! {this is Mexico!}
THE PARTY POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS! Always on the lookout for event venues for our clients’ welcome parties, rehearsal dinners and after-wedding brunches, we are excited to share Acre with you. The farm is not only one of the hottest venues in the area, but also located away from the busy Los Cabos corridor ensuring your event is as private as one can be away from home. But there are many interesting space options to consider, such as the whole restaurant space itself which can accommodate up to 120 guests for a sit down dinner; or the restaurant’s rooftop terrace which can serve as a cocktail party for 70 or a seated dinner space for 45; and the restaurant’s main bar area is perfect for a relaxed 50-person cocktail party. But Acre Baja’s event garden is the surprise of all surprises for those planning a larger celebration as it can accommodate up to 350 guests without an early evening curfew! Party on, people, party on…
