Ali & Ryan’s Boho Baja Wedding

Boho Baja Wedding at Cabo del Sol

Situated along the stunning southern coast of Baja California Sur, Cabo del Sol is an exclusive golf and beach club with oceanfront homes and luxury villas. In other words, Cabo del Sol is an ideal location for a destination wedding weekend in Los Cabos! And, when your father, in this case, our bride Ali’s father, has designed the 7th hole of the Cabo del Sol golf course, you know it’s the place to get hitched! Let the Boho Baja Wedding Weekend begin!

Welcoming Guests to Los Cabos

Ali and Ryan welcomed their guests to Mexico by hosting a party at their wedding villa at Cabo del Sol. The welcome party featured fire dancers (a surprise from the bride’s mom), fresh coconuts, a popsicle cart with rosé and coconut-flavored “poptails” and, of course, a Mezcal station. “Welcome to Cabo” tote bags were offered, each bag filled with sunscreen, custom shot glasses, sparkling water, a bottle of tequila, some tasty snacks, and polvorones (aka Mexican wedding cookies).

Rehearsal Dinner at Esperanza Resort

The couple’s rehearsal dinner was held at the elegant Esperanza, an Auberge Resorts Collection and featured an entire menu of delicious Mexican cuisine!  All of which was served at multiple dinner stations and included fresh ceviche, tamales, braised cochinita, tacos, churros, caramel flan, and a lot of tequila! Located on the ocean with spectacular terraces, the stylish resort complemented the modern and organic aesthetic Ali and Ryan envisioned for the family-style dinner. For the whole look of the rehearsal dinner, a bright color palette was displayed through Otomi table runners, simple bright foliage, and Mexican blankets.

Wedding Day Preparations at Cabo del Sol

The wedding day preparation at Cabo del Sol began with Ali and bridesmaids gathering at the clubhouse, sipping rosé champagne and having their hair and makeup. Ali’s beautiful Bohemian-inspired strapless wedding gown was designed by French-Israeli designer Liz Martinez and sold to the bride at Kinsley James bridal salon. Light, airy and romantic, perfect for the casual beachy Cabo vibe!

First Look

Getting the chance to see each other alone, before the wedding ceremony, was important to Ali and Ryan. Working closely with their photographers, Team Elena Damy helped coordinate a sweet first look photo session around the resort grounds.

The Bridal Bouquet

During the first look session, the bride was presented with her bridal bouquet to use in some of the couple’s photo session. Creative Director, Elena Damy, designed a stunning cascade-style bridal bouquet for Ali using King Protea, White Phalaenopsis Orchids, Dendrobium Orchids, and glossy dark green tropical leaves.

Ceremony on the Sea

Ali and  Ryan’s wedding ceremony was held on the golf course, right next to the ocean, with breathtaking panoramic views as their backdrop. From the giant agaves to the iconic saguaro cactus, it was the perfect setting for an organic, understated and elegant Boho Baja wedding! Our simple wooden ceremony structure anchored the ceremony setting, with lush displays of tropical leaves, palm fronds, and white orchids offering softness at the top. Additional floral arrangements were placed at the beginning of the aisle and white wooden folding chairs held woven fans and ceremony programs.

Cocktails and Reception

The wedding reception was held at the Clubhouse at Cabo del Sol, a stunning hacienda-style space with stucco walls, rounded arches, and Spanish iron details throughout. Cocktails were a casual affair, enjoyed on the lawn passed hors d’oeuvres and tasty beverages brought straight out to the guests.

Our beautiful raw-edge, custom-made wooden tables were brought in for the dining area. For each of the dinner tables, Elena designed lush floral arrangements with white roses, orchids, tulips, and protea, as well as palm fronds and more tropical foliage. Modern glass hurricanes of varying sizes held floating candles. And the place settings consisted of our geometric wooden chargers, fringe linen napkins, capiz shell place cards, and an acrylic menu over a faux monstera leaf.

Dance Floor Design

The courtyard at Cabo del Sol was converted into the dance floor and we hung our collection of woven wicker lamps over the entire area. Near the dance floor was a fun photo booth which featured a floral wall we crafted using palm fronds, giant tropical leaves, and a neon sign that read “Los Swishers” (the bride and groom’s wedding hashtag).

Love All-Around

Ali and Ryan’s friends and family stood around the dance floor holding up sparklers while they swayed to John Legend’s All of You. Then, when the romantic slow song ended everyone let loose on the dance floor for an epic dance party until the clock struck midnight!  They closed out the evening with a cake cutting with fireworks crashing overhead, a late-night taco stand, and amazing new memories! (they even had a trash the dress session the day after!)
