Spring Wedding at Palmilla Resort

We’re saying HOLA! to spring and celebrating with a look at Lisa and Shawn’s lovely outdoor wedding at One&Only Palmilla. Another thoughtful, loving, and well-orchestrated event planned by our dear Claudia Morales! The wedding was a genuine family affair, with Lisa and Shawn’s children from previous marriages serving as their bridal party. Emotional, moving moments were shared throughout the day. But watching the kids’ reactions to the blending of the families into one new one, really was beautiful to witness. Family is everything. Always.

Spring Wedding Inspiration

Now, let’s tackle the design inspiration for this pretty spring wedding! As you can see, flowers and floral patterns, and the soft colors of the season were the focal points. Lisa’s wedding gown, designed by Temperley London, was a study in florals with its pastel floral embroidery. Elena, our Creative Director and lead floral designer, added a fresh floral wreath and loose, garden-style bouquet to Lisa’s ensemble.

Floral Palette

The featured flower throughout the event? PEONIES! Pale, candy pink peonies in full, glorious bloom! They were used in the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets, as well as in the floral centerpieces in the wedding reception. Additional spring blooms used in personal flowers, bouquets, and centerpieces included double tulips, lilac, hellebores, viburnum, fritillaria, and jasmine. A variety of orchids were also added in differing, pale shades. For the wedding ceremony only cream, white, and green flowers were used, including roses, orchids, and viburnum. Of course, in keeping with the fresh, spring aesthetic, different greens and foliage were added for whimsy.

Can you tell the floral wedding gown provided amazing inspiration for the color palette?

Groom Style

Shawn and his boys, too much fun! They certainly knew how to bring beach style to their suiting! The pale gray suits and blush pink ties were perfect complements to Lisa’s dress and the coral pink bridesmaids’ gowns. And the ladies all wore silver strappy sandals, exactly right for the coloring and tone.

A Ceremony at the Chapel

One of the most magical places for an outdoor wedding ceremony here in Los Cabos is the historic chapel at One&Only Palmilla. Not only is it picturesque for obvious reasons, a real WOW! But it’s quaint and romantic, and a ceremony inside the chapel or on the steps outside just feels special. Like you are in your own private church in a secret tropical garden.

Ceremony Flowers

A quick view of the ceremony flowers just before the guests and bridal party arrive for the service! Elena covered the railings with white orchids, creamy open roses, white lisianthus, and apple green viburnum for a crisp, fresh look for the nuptials. And how sweet to see Lisa’s father escort her down/up the aisle!

On to the Celebration!

After the wedding ceremony, Lisa, Shawn, and their families headed off for photos around the resort while the rest of their wedding guests enjoyed cocktails. The cocktail party and dinner dance reception were held on a pool terrace overlooking the ocean. Elena designed the space using our custom-designed square wooden pedestal tables, natural linen runners, and wishbone chairs. Lush floral centerpieces in classic glass compotes were overflowing with seasonal blooms and antiqued silver votive candles added soft candlelight. As an extra floral touch, Elena added free-standing floral sculptures in key places in the floorplan. These sculptures were covered in vines, orchids, and locally-made glass stars.

It was a beautiful spring celebration and we thank Lisa and Shawn for including #TeamElenaDamy in the festivities!
