Summer Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Under La Palapa

Posted on August 8th, 2014 by Carlos Damy

Designed to inspire romance in every way imaginable, The Resort at Pedregal in Los Cabos, Mexico gives our clients a beautiful selection of party spaces to choose from when they’re planning their destination wedding. When most of today’s destination weddings go way beyond just the “day of” and include multiple gatherings across a week or weekend of celebration, hosting your wedding at a vast hotel like Pedregal, with its different event locations and party venues, makes the planning easier for all. A festive “Welcome to Mexico!” party can take place in the Don Manuel Lounge, the ceremony on the Pool Terrace with the Pacific Ocean behind you, the wedding reception on the cliffs at El Farallon, and so forth. Each space offers something amazing, and spreading the celebration across this gorgeous property makes memories to savor! Options, options, options… {Gorgeous photos courtesy of our dear friend, Jessica Claire Photography}

Perhaps one of our favorite event spaces at Pedregal is La Palapa! Sounds good, doesn’t it? Now, for those who don’t know what a palapa is, it is an open-sided structure made with a thatched roof of dried palm leaves. The layered palm leaves provide just the right amount of shade and yet let the cool ocean breeze sweep gently on through. {SIGH} As you can imagine, these natural canopies are extremely wonderful in the hot, dry weather we experience on the beaches here in Los Cabos!

Located right on the beach in the heart of this uber-luxurious Baja resort, it was the ideal setting for an intimate wedding rehearsal dinner for ten lucky guests! Just look at that unbelievable view! Nothing but blue sky, blue ocean and white sandy beach. As you can see from Jessica Claire’s gorgeous photographs, we created a single, rustic dark wood dinner table using the hotel’s existing tables placed back to back, added simple elegant table settings, and placed stylish woven chairs on two sides for a traditional party foundation that did not obstruct the view. Then, we designed a low centerpiece using a natural linen table runner, dozens of handmade minty-gray clay pots and clear glass vases filled with lush mixtures of hot pink and pale pink Peonies, blush pink Roses and candy pink Ranunculus. And, you can’t come to Mexico and skip the delicious tequila! Mini bottles of Casa San Matias Rey Sol Extra Anejo Tequila served as party favors as well as subtle napkin weights at each open-air placesetting.

La Palapa at The Resort at Pedregal is perfect for an intimate dinner for two (what a great spot for a wedding proposal or anniversary dinner!) and up to 25 lucky guests. There is no doubt that along with the delicious food and outstanding service they offer at every turn, you and your loved ones will enjoy the gorgeous views and upscale Mexican ambiance. Then, after dinner, you can stroll over to the rustic fireplace nearby to enjoy cocktails and conversation under the stars.
